Weft Knitting Co. Ltd was established in 1982 after
the time of the collapse of Mosgiel Woollens Ltd in
Otago S.I. The highly successful D23 brand of woollen underwear was one of the product lines that Weft inherited when it bought the knitting plant from Mosgiel Woollens.

In 1988 the company expanded its thermalwear lines to include our Thermadry polypropylene, Thermastat and Thermerino product lines. In 1990 “knitwear” machinery was purchased, expanding the product range to include the Trev’s Mate and latterly our

Merino Possum “Lifestyle” ranges.
